Hurricane Times!

Thanks to all our furiends that gave us well wishes during Sandy.  We are glad to report that we are OK and had no damage to our house :)  In our neighborhood there were just a few down trees, but we didn't lose power or have flooding!  Mommy says that we are VERY lucky! Check out what we did while Sandy was going on:
We cuddled close to the Momma while watching scary movies...
Backyard was flooded so we were just going right out front...See the tree behind us...it was full of leaves before the storm started....
Mommy and Daddy's supplies while we hunkered down in the basement for the night....
We had supplies for us too!
Curious about what's in the cups...
Cuddling in the basement...
We felt safe that we were all together!

We are sending our prayers to our fellow New Jerseyans and New Yorkers who weren't so lucky in the storm!

Sandy!

So, the news men and Mommy and Daddy have said that there is a hurricane coming!  We have our flashlights out and have taken in all of our outdoor stuff so it won't blow away...last time we did this was with Irene...and we are prepared in the same way...but with a hurricane comes lots of RAIN....and I HATE the rain...this is how I feel about all the rain and wind headed our way:

"NOOOOO!"

Daddy says it looks like I'm experiencing "hurricane depression"....

"I hope this rain coat can stand up to Sandy!"
Hoping all of our furiends on the East Coast stay safe and dry!  See you after this "Frankenstorm!"

I am the Champion!

The Champion of the PetSmart Howl-oween costume contest that is!  That's right, Mommy and Daddy took us to PetSmart to get our pictures taken, walk in the pet parade and enter the costume contest.  We had so much fun and I was loving all the attention I was getting!  Everyone thought my costume was the best (they kept saying it).  Check out our pictures!
Posing for our picture!
(I'm an airplane and Maddy is a superdog with her own headlining newspaper)
Doing a little shopping....
"I would like something from in there, Please!"
Maddy knows just what to do at the checkout counter!
The top three of the costume contest!
I was the winner, the poodle skirt came in second and elvis came in third.
Maddy playing with one of our new Howl-oween toys!
My winnings!
As the overall winner I got a certificate and a $10 gift card to go shopping and get anything I want-after all a Champion does deserves lots of treats, don't you think?!

Say Cheese!

Mommy and Daddy got a new camera tonight!  They say it's one of those fancy-takes lots of pictures in a few seconds-much better camera.  We sure were curious about it...Daddy was using us for practice!
"What is he doing, Mommy?"
"Let me see!"
"That's not my good side, Daddy!"
Mommy and Daddy say they will play Paparazzi with us this weekend while they try out the new camera...we always knew we were stars!

Survivor Football!

Mommy and Daddy run a "suicide football league" with lots of friends and family.  Obviously, we have our own team called "M&O picks".  Every week we are to pick a team that we think will win and if they do then we move on to the following week.  Once you pick a team you can not pick them again for the rest of the season.  Last week Mommy and Daddy both picked New England Patriots to win (along with lots of others from the league) and they lost.  So now they are out and it's up to us to keep our family in the running for the big winnings at the end.  Here is how we do it:
1. Mommy and Daddy narrow it down to three teams for us to pick from and write them down

2. They put them in a bowl and we wait to pick

3. Owen and I take turns picking a team each week-this week it was my turn!
3. We get a treat for our hard work and we watch the game and cheer!

Wish us luck that we picked a winner!

PAWCAKES!

Mommy made us a special breakfast. Pawcakes. The doggy version of pancakes.
First the ingredients

Mix them up to make the batter

Cook 'em up!
A short stack for each of us

Trying to steal some early!
Finally, time to eat!
Looking to see if there is more...
"Could we have these every morning Mommy?"
After all, Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
Here is the recipe for those of you that want to have your own short stack:
1 3/4 cup unbleached all purpose or whole wheat flour
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup milk, skim or whole
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 eggshells, crushed or ground (optional)
Combine flour, cornmeal, baking soda and powder.
Combine remaining ingredients in another bowl.  Mix wet and dry ingredients until combined (careful not to overmix) and cook as you would regular pancakes.  Cool to room temperature. Enjoy!
**batter lasts in refrigerator for about 2 days**
